the leader we need now
“I'm running for County Executive because Montgomery County is at a crossroads. We need to revamp our economy, improve our schools, and fight back against Donald Trump’s harmful agenda. I believe that we can only make real progress when we all work together.”
ABOUT
Evan Glass
for Montgomery County Executive
Building a Better Montgomery County for Everyone
Evan Glass grew up with his single mother in New York and became the first in his family to earn a college degree when he graduated from American University. Twenty-six years ago, he chose Montgomery County as his home — and he's been working to make it a stronger, more inclusive community ever since.
A Leader Who Gets Things Done
In 2018, Evan made history as the first openly gay man elected to the Montgomery County Council. Now in his second term as an At-Large member, he's built a record of real results.
Evan has championed legislation that makes a difference in people's lives: the Pay Equity Act to close the wage gap, the Housing Justice Act to protect renters and homeowners, the LGBTQ+ Bill of Rights, and the Make Office Vacancy Extinct Act to revitalize our economy. He's advanced public safety, protected immigrant communities, and promoted suicide prevention and firearm education.
As an environmental and social justice advocate, Evan successfully led the initiative to make public buses fare-free for everyone, expanded composting programs, and increased political representation by adding two new Council districts.
Deep Roots in Public Service
Before joining the Council, Evan spent 12 years as a CNN journalist covering Congress, presidential campaigns, and national politics. He also served as a contractor for the Department of Veterans Affairs and as executive director of Gandhi Brigade Youth Media, an innovative after-school program empowering immigrant and low-income students.
Evan lives in Silver Spring with his husband Jason and their two rescue beagles, Daisy and Poppy.
